The Runningworks Lark Hill Dusk to Dawn 50kms & 100kms Ultra was held on Saturday, March 3 along a 3kms limestone loop course in Port Kennedy, WA. With two other events also included (a 25kms and a children’s 800m race), participants faced minor undulations, 200m of soft sand on each loop, and a short climb to the start/finish line. The loops meant runners in the 100kms had to complete 34 laps, and the 50kms participants 17 laps.
AURA member Margie Hadley, from Henley Brook, smashed yet another first-place finish, taking first overall in the 100kms with a time of 9:22:19. The 100kms distance appears to be a favourite for Hadley, as she continues claiming podium finishes in most of her entered ultra races.
Second overall, AURA’s Nicholas O’Neill from Baldivis finished not too far behind in 10:31:58.
In the 50kms, Ridgewood’s Shaun Kaesler claimed the first place title with 4:16:33 while Jason Phillips from Warnbro held on to third in 4:41:09.
A stellar effort by Rob Sutton (5:14:21) and Darryl McKenzie (6:26:14) also in the 50kms distance.
Congratulations to all our AURA members who tackled Lark Hill’s loop course this year.
The next AURA-listed event for the year is the Canberra 48hr Race, to be held on Saturday, March 16.
