Introducing our monthly feature Spotlight On, where our AURA members get to know a little bit about some other AURA members!
Name: Marie Louise Boyd
Age: 74
Location: Bishop, California, USA
Multi-day events because I can pace myself, rest when necessary, and for my age, I do quite well.
As a younger woman, I had developed asthma. A running coach encouraged me, and after running a mile non-stop, I was seriously hooked. As years progressed, my speed diminished, and the longer distances became more appealing because I had the endurance needed.
Challenging myself to do 40 miles a day for 10 days. I did it at the Across The Years 10 Day Race, managing 401 miles before calling it ‘good’.
A younger, inexperienced runner who would listen to a few words of advice from an older, back of the pack runner.
Another experienced runner with whom I could share stories, exchange gossip, and enjoy the wonders of the longer event together. My husband, Andy, would be a fine choice.
Storm gear, foot care supplies and Hammer supplements.
An Australian ultra, somewhere near the beach.
