Events Coming Up

Cradle Mountain Run
The Cradle Mountain Run saw participants traverse 80km through Tasmania’s famous Cradle Mountain all the way through to Lake St Clair Overland Track on 6 February. Runners were given between 8 and 15.5 hours to complete the distance.

AURA’s very own Matt Crehan from Northcote, Vic took 1st Male in the event, crossing the finish line in a final time of 7:48:50 In 2nd Male placing it was Matthew Dunn (8:40:05) and then Damon Whish-Wilson for 3rd Male (8:46:06).

Podium finishes for the women went to Amy Lamprecht for 1st (9:32:31) and Emma Flittner for 2nd (9:40:02) whilst the final spot was proudly taken by AURA member Gill Fowler from Rozelle, NSW who finished in a time of 10:45:08.

Well done to all our AURA members who took part in the Cradle Mountain Run and completed the distance including Ben Hirst (10:26:54), Stephanie Auston (10:50:52), Ingo Ernst (10:52:41) and Ina Schapiro (12:20:17).

City Run
The City Run, hosted by GoodRunnings, was held on 7 February with the start and finish lines at Bonython Park. Participants ran a 7.5km loop along the River Torrens and were offered a variety of distances including a 50km and 60km.

We are still awaiting official results.

AURA Member News
Kay Bretz from Prahran, Vic this weekend took out the title of Last One Standing at the Trails+ MVP (Maribyrnong Valley Park) Backyard Ultra which was held from 5 February in Vic. Bretz ran a total of 36 hours (36 laps), finishing up with 241.41km.

A stellar effort from Bretz, congratulations.

Coming Up
The 
Lark Hill Dusk to Dawn Ultra is due to be held on 27 February at Lark Hill Sporting Complex in Port Kennedy, WA. A night time run around a 3km limestone track loop, runners are offered a 25km (8 laps), 50km (17 laps) and a 100km (34 laps).

Following WA’s recent hard lockdown, the only difference to the event should be the requirement of spectators to sign in and wear a mask however there is a possibility that all COVID restrictions will cease from 14 February. 

Trails of Kings and Queens will be run from 5-7 March in Southampton, WA and will see runners participate in 3 days of racing, camping, games, socialising and camaraderie.

The Six Foot Track will be held on 13 March on a 45km trail stretching across the Blue Mountains from the Explorer’s Marked Tree to the Jenolan Caves in NSW.
