HerberTONNE, Qld

The HerberTONNE ultra event was held on Saturday, August 3 at the Atherton Tablelands, Qld in trying weather conditions. This was the ultra’s inaugural year, and runners got to race through rainy, muddy trails in either the 100km or 50km events (there was also a 100km team option).

AURA’s very own Lisa Hurring from Central Qld, who just four weeks earlier on July 6 took 1st Female in the Brisbane Trail Ultra’s 100mi in 27:45:31, continued her podium streak with a 1st Female finish in the HerberTONNE’s 100km event.

She crossed the finish line in 12:37:55 and said she was thrilled with the new race.

“It was an amazing course and brilliant new event,” she said.

“It’s a great adventure and a classy addition to the ultra running calendar!”.

Second for the women was Sarah Foster (14:53:05) whilst 3rd went to Jennifer Damon (16:53:21).

In the men’s race, podium finishes went to Sam Heames who took 1st with (12:26:55), Helmut Haselroither with 2nd (14:19:47) and Rob Davidson with 3rd (14:40:29).

Congratulations to AURA members Matthew Salinovich (16:16:00) and John Kilkelly (16:53:21) who completed their 100km races, and to those who gave it their best shot.

In the 50km event, 1st Male went to Leo Schoepflin (5:18:52), 2nd went to James Giugni (5:34:34) and 3rd went to Shane D’Alcorn (5:35:48).

Helen Durand took 1st Female (5:47:12), Michelle Murphy claimed 2nd (5:55:10) and 3rd went to Rebekah Curtis (6:03:34).
