Narrabeen All Nighter

The Narrabeen All Nighter was held over the weekend in Narrabeen, NSW and saw 85 finishers cross the finish line in the main event – the 12 hour multi lap trail race.

Across the board the event saw 185 runners enter in all three races – the 12 hour, the team event, and the midnight marathon.

According to race directors, conditions were not entirely favourable with rain and mud in all directions but it was a double high five for AURA member Rick Storrier, from Wagga Wagga, NSW who took home first place for the men after completing his 12 hour race with a total distance of 126.58kms.

In a public post to his friends and followers on the socials where no one could wipe the smile off his face, Storrier said he had a great race despite the tough and challenging conditions.

“It rained for the first seven to eight hours, and my feet are a complete mess,” he recalled.

“What a pretty bloody proud moment, I’ve worked hard for this. I think anything’s achievable really when we put enough time and effort and focus when we really want something.”

Sabina Hamaty from Camberwarra, NSW claimed an extraordinary distance of 100.21kms and took third place on the podium for the women.

Congratulations to all our AURA members who completed the 12 hour event at the Narrabeen All Nighter, including Philip Balnave (100.21kms), Pam Muston (94.93kms), Renae Brock (89.66kms), Leah Weeden (68.56kms), Mike Carroll (63.29kms), John Nuttall (63.29kms), Heather Dwyer (63.29kms), Meagan Kerr (58.01kms), Nicole Kruse (52.74kms), Natalie Best (42.19kms), and Brett Sammut (31.64kms).

Membership competition

We did something new this year when it came to encouraging membership renewals and new members to join, with a draw for one lucky member to win funds towards an AURA-listed event of their choice and travel.

On January 7 the winner of the competition was drawn, and a big congratulations goes to David Jones from Oyster Bay, NSW.
