AAA Racing Hill Climb Challenge (Round 3), Qld

Round 3 aka the Big Dipper event of the AAA Racing Hill Climb Challenge was held across the weekend (March 9 to 10) at Millwood Road in Beerburrum, and an adventurous yet small group rocked up to race overnight in one of three events – the 3hr, 6hr and 12hr.

Clearly a tough event, with non-stop hill repeats, the Big Dipper event consists of laps, with each lap having two climbs and two descents into the same valley (one on the way out, and one on the way back).

All participants are visible from all parts of the course, so high fives and encouragement are all the rage.

A big congratulations to AURA member Connie Stevenson from Brisbane who was the sole 3am starter for the 6hr race and completed 42.57kms as well as Stephen Lewis from Stanthorpe, Qld who tackled the 12hr and secured just over 35kms.

A big, mighty effort by everyone who ran on the Big Dipper course for AAA Racing’s round three of the Hill Climb Challenge.

The next events on the AURA calendar include the Canberra 48hr Race in the ACT this weekend from March 15 to 17, Duncan’s Run in Gippsland, Vic on March 23 and the rescheduled Round 1 of AAA Racing’s Hill Climb Challenge at Wild Horse Mountain in Qld on March 23.
