Cradle Mountain Run, Tas
The Cradle Mountain Run was held on Saturday, February 3 through beautiful Tasmanian wilderness, starting from the famous Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair Overland track. For 82kms, runners tackled the mostly self-sufficient course with technical trails but countered it with stunning scenery.
AURA member Stephen Redfern from Heathcote, NSW took 3rd overall and according to the socials, said he was thrilled with his result.
“For my first time running it, I was really happy with my time and felt I gave it everything for the whole nine hours out on the track,” he said.
“This is definitely one race worth doing, and so great to run an ultra race that is still so raw and has stayed true to its original concept.”
Congratulations to Redfern who completed the distance in 9:05:05.
Top efforts were also given by Nicole Paton (9:59:13), Jessica Schluter (10:26:49), Jonathan McComb (10:27:41), Katherine Macmillan (10:35:46), Andrew Hewat (13:36:05) and Richard Pickup.
The next AURA-listed event for 2018 will be the Lark Hill Dusk to Dawn Ultra on March 3 and 4 in Port Kennedy, WA. Distances include 50kms and 100kms events measured on a 3kms limestone loop course.
