The ETR Race is only a short distance from Port Macquarie, Wauchope, and Telegraph Point in the beautiful Hastings area. All races will take place in Cairncross State Forest. You will travel through the State Forest and NSW Crown Lands and land of the traditional owners, the Birpai People. The Elephant Trail Race course (ETR) is a 25km/27km course, with approx. 1200m/1455m elevation per lap through the beautiful Cairncross State Forest. It showcases Cairncross State Forests beauty and the diverse landscape and culture: mountain views, rolling hills, picture-postcard views over the mountains stretching cross the valleys, right out to the ocean. Rushing creek bed at times, crazy steep up hill, and down hill descents through untouched forests with hidden secrets from hundred of years ago. The magic is there for everyone to behold.
Although the goal is a continuous off-road ultra-trail looped, multi directional course run over 44.5 hours. Runners may get on and off the course depending on their hearts desire in distance. The course ranges from 217km (135mile) then makes it way backwards through the distances 160km (100 mile), 100km, 50km,25km, 13km, 5km till we get to the kids race 2.5km which everyone can get involved in.
