The BVRT 100/200 is run along the length of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail from Brassall (on the outskirts of Ipswich) to Yarraman in the North West.
Not to be taken lightly, it’s a runner’s course with relatively little elevation but a constant, consistent gradient on the outward leg (200 mile event) and a steady downhill on the return (200 and all other events). Many of the 2018 participants were caught out by the incline and underestimated the incline with a third of the field failing to finish.
The BVRT, run through some stunning scenery, is certainly a challenge to distance runners and represents ultra ‘running’ for the purist.
With generous cut-offs for all but the 200 mile event (which is 60 hours), it’s a genuine chance to tick of a first miler along with being a real challenge for some of the best runners in the country.
