Australia Day Ultra, WA Points competition summary The running of the Australia Day Ultra was held on Saturday (January 19) down in the coastal town of Australind, just 160kms south of Perth. The race is known to feature many city and suburban Perth runners who venture down to race in either the 100km, 75km, 50km and 25km events, but conditions this year were extremely challenging, with temperatures soaring in the mid to high-30s. Two Bays Trail Run, Vic Last weekend saw the running of the Two Bays Trail Run, held between Dromana on the Port Phillip Bay side and Cape Schanck on the Bass Strait side in Victoria. Ultra runners took on the 56km option which started on Sunday, January 13 and a 28km was also raced the same day. Narrabeen All Nighter, NSW Points competition Membership draw Narrabeen All Nighter The Narrabeen All Nighter was held over the weekend in Narrabeen, NSW and saw 85 finishers cross the finish line in the main event – the 12 hour multi lap trail race. Across the board the event saw 185 runners enter in all three races – the 12 hour, the team event, and the midnight marathon. Sandman 50, WA Membership renewals reminder Points competition Our last weekly news brief for 2018! Sandman 50 The Sandman 50k was the last AURA-listed event for the year, and was held in Dunsborough, WA on Sunday (December 23). Tony Smith from Tapping secured 1st Male in a time of 4:04:22 and was closely followed by visitor Ben Nicholls, hailing from Timboon, Vic who crossed the finish line in sub 4:20 for a 2nd Male with a time of 4:19:36. 6 Inch Trail Ultra, WA The weekend saw the iconic and ever-growing 6 Inch Trail Marathon being held in WA, about 80kms south of Perth, on Sunday, December 16. The 47km event saw more than 270 participants race in favourable conditions.
