The IAU conducts its 100km world championship event each year. AURA normally selects a team to represent Australia at this event.
To be considered for selection, the primary qualifying standard is sub 8 hours for men and sub 9 hours for women.
There are several qualifying opportunities in Australia (Narabeen Allnighter in January, Gold Coast 100 in June, The Tan Ultra in August, Centennial Park 100 in September, and in New Zealand, their 100km championships in February at Lake Taupo).
The last IAU 100 km World Championship were held in Winschoten, Netherlands on 10 September 2011. In 2012 the 100km world championships will be held in April in Seregno (Monza-Brianza) (ITA)
